That's a good distinction, I guess, but it's still somewhat aggravating that we have to define something "good" as "not" belonging to its genre. I'm a library cataloger and I encounter situations all the time where I have to decide whether to honor the science fiction elements or make it visible to the public. And Michael Crichton always goes into popular fiction, for some reason.

I haven't heard of Death Watch, but it's going on my list.
