The problem, as I see it, is attempting to publish what's essentially fanfic (Phantom reworkings/sequels etc) and what's meant to be taken as crit (sometimes of same subject) under the same name. I'm not striving for academic credentials, but I do think my "study" of popculture might be downgraded if everyone knows I rape it regularly.
