I found it a little confusing at first; I couldn't tell you were moving from one object of whispers and rumor to another
Yeah... I tried to make the moving around the opera house distinguish the figures. On the other hand, I'm not sure making it less confusing would work as well. Surely I could spell it out, but I think it would lessen what literary value there is.
Christine dealing with reality while everyone else...the people who attend the opera, the people of the opera, even the shades themselves, are so locked in fantasy.
I think I need to do more with C's relationship to the "real." She's also tapped into fantasy; but she's experiencing something deadly real at the same time. I'm hoping these little ficlets will someday add up, thematically, into my Grand Statement on the fandom. I feel so guilty writing these non-stories, I can only tell myself it's edging towards something whole, eventually.
