I think I need to do more with C's relationship to the "real." She's also tapped into fantasy; but she's experiencing something deadly real at the same time.
This is one of the reasons I love POTO. Everyone is approaching reality from slightly different angles. It's a Naturalist take on Romanticism.
I'm not sure why you always deride your one-shots. Short pieces can hold a lot of insight, and have just as much merit as long ones (imo). Though I do understand about wanting to build a Grand Statement on the fandom...I have the same tendency.
