vague thoughts on Doctor Who 3x08 - "Human Nature"
I loved it.
Due to issues of synchronization (every time I tried to watch and type, the audio got off), I don't have a play-by-play. But I'm a sucker for identity stories, and just the idea of Martha living there, watching him, knowing everything but unable to talk to anyone, seeing him fall for another woman (they haven't had time for that asexual conversation?), just kills me. I never hated Rose, but I love Martha. She's capable even if she makes some mistakes. I can't see Rose keeping it up even as well as Martha in this situation.
To me, tv shows are almost always about characters. Not about plots or places. So I don't really care what got them into this mess; I love watching them battle their way through it, emotionally. It's why I also enjoyed the previous week's hackneyed Alien story, for the stuff with Martha and her escape pod companion (I thought it was well-played) and for the business of the Doctor taking the creature into himself but retaining enough consciousness to know how dangerous he is.
I don't know when the last time was I thought a DW episode was good. But I loved this one, and can't wait for tomorrow's.
