I think this is fairly accurate and I like the way the system explains my reading habits. I want to know the characters and care, genuinely care, about their lives in the story which ends up meaning that with a really good book I get very emotional. There have been stories where I've been so angry at a character I had to stop reading and go rant to someone about it or times when I've just sat there and cried because I really, really did not want so-and-so to have to offer their lives for the cause but knew that ultimately it was necessary.
What really gets me is a book that is both character driven and written very well. No, not even "very well." Written with such care and skill that I'm willing to go out and buy each new part of the trilogy/series/whatever immediately after tracking the new release for months. There aren't a whole lot of books or authors that I'm willing to do that for because I know there'll be other books to read in the meantime.

I think your hypothesis has merit.
