Well, it's not exactly a movie (yet), but around here we've been listening to the soundtrack for the old stage play Fiorello! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiorello%21) (which won a Tony and a Pulitzer for Best Drama in 1960.)

In some ways, Obama is eerily like Fiorello LaGuardia - both were "outsiders" who weren't really expected to prevail, and neither had the unqualified support of their parties. (LaGuardia was Republican in Democratic Tammany-dominated NYC.)

One song good for a chuckle: "Politics and Poker," where the guys in the "back room" fish around for a candidate:

Gentlemen, here we are
Let's make one thing clear
We've got to pick a candidate
For Congress this year ...

Gentlemen, how about
Some names we can use?
Some qualified Republican
Who's willing to lose?

Politics and poker,
Politics and poker
Shuffle up the cards
And find the joker

If politics seems more predictable
It's because you can stack the deck...
