FAIL

I didn't get the part. But I'm not too broken up, because I knew it already. Still... I made my folks alter our vacation plans in case I was going to be in the show this summer. Which I feel bad about, now.

In other news, I love this election. Even apart from who wins, or who I support, or why, I'm vastly entertained by all of it. I know entertainment isn't the point (or shouldn't be), but the excitement of it is fantastic and just the closeness of the race(s) and the engagement of the public is heartening. When's the movie coming out?

When's the movie coming out?

Don't joke. Betcha there will be one. At least a TV movie...

Sorry you didn't get the part, Ms. D. There will be other opportunities methinks.

It won't be a movie - it'll be a cartoon! (Or maybe a cartoon movie...)

I'm sorry you didn't get the part.

This is the most entertaining election ever. This is the first I've seen political "fandoms". Half my friends list is convinced that Barack Obama is a Time Lord, and the other half can has Hillary tiems nao? It's hilarious.

It can be amusing. I have to stop myself from looking at [livejournal.com profile] ihasatardis at work. Talk about crack.

Er, yes, I knew that. *looks away*

There have been about a zillion Obama macros in that comm, though too, interestingly. Somebody somewhere has probably done a study of the political affiliations in fandom, I'm sure.

I'm sorry about the part.

Well, it's not exactly a movie (yet), but around here we've been listening to the soundtrack for the old stage play Fiorello! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiorello%21) (which won a Tony and a Pulitzer for Best Drama in 1960.)

In some ways, Obama is eerily like Fiorello LaGuardia - both were "outsiders" who weren't really expected to prevail, and neither had the unqualified support of their parties. (LaGuardia was Republican in Democratic Tammany-dominated NYC.)

One song good for a chuckle: "Politics and Poker," where the guys in the "back room" fish around for a candidate:

Gentlemen, here we are
Let's make one thing clear
We've got to pick a candidate
For Congress this year ...

Gentlemen, how about
Some names we can use?
Some qualified Republican
Who's willing to lose?

Politics and poker,
Politics and poker
Shuffle up the cards
And find the joker

If politics seems more predictable
It's because you can stack the deck...

Aw, sorry to hear you didn't get the part! It sounds though like you did a good job at the audition anyway.

LOL Yeah, I know what you mean about the election! That's why I can't stand American politics.
